The Minne-Loppet

Here we are on Saturday January 31st at the Sons of Norway Minne-Loppet in uptown Minneapolis. 18 students from our class, and Mr. Lundquist, were involved in the race.
Here's Chue taking off from the starting line, he was determined to win the race!
Lots of kids passed by Mr. Lundquist, but he was a good skier. He wanted to make sure all the kids were safe.
Here's Danielle trying to do her best, looking pretty in pink.
On Saturday, it was 45 degrees, it was so warm that Daynesha took off her coat so she could ski better and not be so hot. We were use to training in really cold weather, one day when we practiced, it was -1, so 45 degrees above zero felt like a spring!
Here's Kegan taking off from the starting gates. Also, there's Harrison's mom right behind Kegan, she also skied with us the whole race Thanks to all the parents who came to watch and support us kids!
Wow! Here's Abdirahman passing Chue, but Chue would eventually catch up to him and pass him up.
Harrison is really close to the finish line, keep going Harrison your almost there!
Can Mr.L. pass Clara up? Part of the race was on Lake of the Isles, the lake was frozen so we could ski on it.
Salma trying to make her way passing other kids, and she flew past them with no problem at all.
Destiny was trying to go up the hill, the race was over a mile long, from start to finish.
Check it out, there's Mrs. Potvien skiing with us as well. Her class was the other 4/5 classroom that skied in the loppet. She was a natural on the skis.
Here's Vianna making her way past Nicola, there were over 750 kids skiing that day, it was packed.
David on his way to getting to the finish line.
Go Clara Go! The race really was fun, but we were really tired and sweaty at the end of the race. At the end of the race, they had hot chocolate and cookies for everyone. Thanks to Coach Kim & Coach Katie for teaching us how to Cross Country Ski and more about nutrition, and thanks to Ucare for sponsoring our school. Check out the video below this post.

Congratulations to everyone who competed in the Minne-Loppet! It looks like you had a great time and got some good exercise. I like to ski too. I'm glad you are learning a fun sport that you can do for the rest of your lives. Go skiers!
